Can you paint Vinyl Siding?

Well, I bought a house, and it has some ugly yellow vinyl siding. I was wondering however, instead of buying new siding (the siding is already new anyway), if I could just paint it. I would like a cobblestone color (kind of like a brown).

What kind of paint would I use?

How would I go about doing it?

Any help is appriciated! Can you paint Vinyl Siding?
Yea, any exterior paint will do, just make sure you clean and prep it acordingly such as washing it first. If any doubts just read the label, it will say can be used on aluminum or vinyl siding ,below is a example that states this, just with it being yellow it might be good to primer first.Good luck. Can you paint Vinyl Siding?
Paint shrinks vinyl. Sorry.
Vinyl siding can be painted as long as you make it a lighter color. If you paint it a darker color it heats up more in the sun and has a greater chance of warping. Any good acrylic paint will work.
You absolutely can, I've seen many people paint vinyl and aluminum siding. I've never done it myself, but I would guess a primer would be needed along with a few coats of exterior paint. Go to a good paint store to get an opinion, not the home improvement stores!
You have to wash the vinyl by water and soap (IF WATER PRESSURE BETTER) let the dry and spry it only one time.
Yellow is a hard color to like on a house. The good news is that you can paint over it. Here's what you need to know:

first, you'll need to clean the siding. Try to avoid the temptation to use a pressure washer. Good old soap and water is the best route. Pressure washers can force water behind your siding at the seems and cause mildew or mold to develop where you can't see it.

second, find a color you like that is no darker than your existing color. I know it won't be your first choice, but darker colors of paint will cause the vinyl to absorb more heat from the sun and cause warping to occur, once this happens, you'll have to replace it as it can't return to it's original shape. I'm sure that if you spend some time in a good paint store, you'll find a color you like in a shade that won't cause you trouble later.

and third, while you're at the paint store, you'll need to pick up a high quality uerethane and acrylic resin mix paint or a high quality exterior acrylic latex. Ask your paint guy to guide you in the right direction. You'll be wanting a paint that will expand and contract right along with your vinyl. Don't try to save a buck by buying cheap paint. Remember that a little up front cost could save you thousands in the long run if your cheap paint damages your vinyl siding. Also, don't worry about priming. As long as your surface is clean, your new paint should stick just fine. Some professionals will recommend two coats while others sweat by one coat. You'll need to talk to your paint guy to see what he recommends for the specific paint you're buying.

I know this was a lot of information, but I hope it is helpful to you. Happy home-owning!
