Hi, I'm just getting into graphicing dirt race cars and want to spruce up some of my vinyl graphics for the cars with some airbrushing.
I'm looking for specific airbrush paint names and if you have it sites that I can purchase them at.
Thank you so much for your time! Have a great day!
NikiCan you recommend a good airbrush paint to paint on vinyl graphics??
Hi! As an old, experienced sign painter, airbrush artist, and designer, my first impression is that you will definitely have to use something that is durable, and will last through outdoor abuse and washings.
When I used to airbush custom designs directly onto cars, trucks and boats, I used a special outdoor enamel sign painter's paint called 1-Shot. This is an oil-based enamel, producing exceptional coverage, that needs to be thinned and cleaned with 1-Shot Reducer, turpentine, or mineral spirits, so it is not the easiest or cleanest medium to use. Also, if left sitting unused too long it will tend to dry in your airbrush, possibly leading to disassembling the brush to clean the needle and nozzles. So, consider yourself forewarned.
However, I still see vehicles that I airbrushed 10 years ago driving around with good, intact paintings. Here is a link to more information about these durable paints, which may be used to paint on vinyl with a special primer:

Thanks for asking this question. Best wishes!
