What's the best way to paint a vinyl fence?

You'll need to use a primer specially formulated to adhere to plastic prior to painting. These are called 'Self Etching' and microscopically cut into the surface finish in order to achieve a bond which won't flake or peel such as you would get by simply painting alone.

There are paints specifically made for painting plastic which require no primer as the paint itself is self etching but these are mostly available in spray can size and are not really feasible from a cost standpoint for such a large project as this.

As to ease of painting I would recommend a power sprayer such as a Wagner system as it will give a better result than either brush or roller and do it in 1/3 the time. Given that you'll be doing multiple coats what with priming and a couple of coats of paint this adds up to be a fair amount so pony up and buy such a rig if you don't already have one, trust me, you'll thank me later. Good luck and have a great weekend. What's the best way to paint a vinyl fence?
good luck vinyl is hard to do that stuff to. clean it and buy a specialty primer for that. I've never heard of anyone wanting to paint a vinyl fence before. good luckWhat's the best way to paint a vinyl fence?
Wash fence off and let dry. Apply primer so the paint will stick to the vinyl fence. Paint with paint that will withstand heat, cold, and humidity.
Don't paint it! Your taking a maintenance free fence and making it into a fence your gonna have to keep painting in the future.

But if you absolutely have your heart set on painting it. Get an electric sander and sand the entire surface of the fence to rough it up. This will give the paint a surface to adhere to. Then put a primer on it. Let it dry and then paint it.
