Can i paint over vinyl siding?

ineed to paint over siding need to know howCan i paint over vinyl siding?
you have one problem with painting vinyl siding that nobody has mentioned.

vinyl siding expands and contracts a lot with the heat and cold. if you paint in warm weather the lap joints will expose the unpainted surface under the lap during cold weather. if you are going to paint allow for that and/or paint it the same color.

you could power wash the siding and see it that fixes the problem. you'd have to wash it to prep for paint anyhow. Can i paint over vinyl siding?
Yes, it is possible.Vinyl siding paint works best when it is a blend of urethane and acrylic resin.

Vinyl siding tends to flex with heat and cold. Because of this, regular paint would not work. The flexing would break the bond of the paint to the vinyl. With the new special vinyl paint, it can be done.

You should pick a color that is lighter than your present siding. When you go darker, it tends to absorb the heat, and we are back to the bonding issue.

You can special order this paint at any paint store. Make sure you tell him what you are using it for, and insist on a warranty that it will adhere.
Any 100% acrylic paint will do and yes try to stay with the lighter colors as the darker absorb the heat. Go to a reputable paint store like Benjamin Moore for more information STAY away from the big box stores! Good luck Les the painter
i have heard that it is possible. i would ask at my local home depot/ Lowe's if there is a certain type of paint available.
