Is it OK to paint a radiator with vinyl silk?

Yes, as long as you get a good key on the radiator by lightly sanding it with a P80 grade sand paper. Then wipe with a damp cloth to get the dust off. Radiator enamal paint is ok but is horrible to use. The finish is not the same and you have to build it up with a couple of coats which makes the radiator less effecient.

It is also advisable to turn the rad off and let the paint dry naturally.

The preferred method of the professionals is to use a good make (Dulux or better still Permoglaze) Eggshell finish in the colour you want.Any paint store will mix it for you for about 拢8.00 per litre. It is a very durable finish and looks like enamal paint.

think it might crack with the heat...you are better off using proper radiator enamel paint. Is it OK to paint a radiator with vinyl silk?
It's fine to use vinyl silk, not a problem so long as you let the paint dry naturally before turning on the heating.

I use it on all my radiators - gets the right colour co-ordination for me without breaking the bank!
yes
i am a painter

no but you could use eggshell paint
I used to be No, but now there is a new clear paint that you can paint over any paint/colour. I think it is made by 'International' So that you can now have any colour you want on your radiators.
yes but it will eventually flake as will all paint even the radiator brand paint will. make sure its cold when applying
no problem ..i have done it many times
You could try but the heat may affect it.You can buy radiator paint which will probably be the safest thing to do.
