Some stupid kids spray painted the side of my house. Is it possible to remove the black paint? How do you remove spray paint from vinyl siding?
You are lucky that it is on vinyl siding because it is easier to remove the spray paint from that (as opposed to wood). If you use paint thinner, expect that it will also remove the base coat of your original paint color. This will present some problems touching up. You may have to re-paint the entire board or that side of your house because the original color oxidizes and fades with time. This means that when you touch up, even with an expert color match, you will be off by an obvious shade.
I would try a product called GOOF OFF available at the Wal-Mart, Lowes and Home Depot home improvement stores. Try it in an inconspicous area, sparingly first. Determine whether it is ';eating'; through the spray paint while leaving the base paint. (It should, but since we don't know what they painted the vinyl with originally, better to be safe than SORRY!) Also, don't be all in a hurry to get all of the spray paint off in one application. Be patient, allow the GOOF OFF evaporation time between several light swipes over the spray painted area, until there is no sign of the spray paint.
Mostenbocker's (available at the Wal-Mart) also carries a product that removes spray paint for a laundry application. I've used it to remove spray pain on wooden, painted siding with success. But, really don't know whether it would work as well on vinyl siding, it may be worth a try if you cannot find GOOF OFF.
Good luck on a frustrating job and aggravating situation! How do you remove spray paint from vinyl siding?
Probably not, try the paint thinner but I think that would fade the color of the siding as well, you could make a claim on your homeowner's insurance.... some insurance companies do cover for vandalism, you'll probably just have to replace the siding in the long run. $$$$$$$$$$$
Try lacguer thinner, be careful......
