Adding more info here for you also... :o)
When I went to paint mine, they were also kind of old and obviously not cheap. I washed them down real good, spread over my dinning room table with just a good liquid soap (Dawn I think) and let them dry all day/night. Then I went to work on the painting. I did purchase the fabric paints at a craft store, and I was using old ones that I had from my sweatshirt painting days. But instead of applying directly, I put the paint on a paper plate and painted my shades with a brush. After I was done painting, I bought a can of clear spray paint at the hardware store and sprayed it with that. It didn't yellow or become ';brittle'; but it made it so that I could wipe down the little finger prints once my kids came along. Have fun... I loved my finished project and had them for 15 + years!I want to paint a vinyl roller shade. What kind of paint should I use?
Latex would work. It dries flexible. I wouldn't suggest using the shade any more than absolutely necessary.
