Vinyl paper has a shiny surface and I think its not as easy as painting paper versions. I dont want to have to remove the existing paper as I just want a quick paint job to cover up the existing. Can I paint the vinyl wallpaper in my hallway and if so how do I prep the wallpaper first?
Try KilzCan I paint the vinyl wallpaper in my hallway and if so how do I prep the wallpaper first?
several ways wash with a deglosser called trisodium and rinse then paint with a latex or use gripper primer from iciglidden its a good prep for any paint or use an alcohol primer like zap from walmart or bin or zinzer i like the cheap zap and use a roller and a dollar store brush to throw away from the primers and then use a nice latex any shade ps when using light colors have the paint dept add an oz of black to the zap and it will cover better and if a dark color use as much black as they will add like 2 to 4 oz's it makes a dark gray and thats the primer for dark colors
not sure, but a neighbor told me that they painted over regular wallpaper(like we had, the border by the ceiling) and they said by painting over it it eventually started to peel off. took a little while but did start to peel.
Yes you can paint it but you will see lines or grooves in your paint where the wallpaper may have been torn and where the wallpaper meets and ends.
Yes. Well, I don't know how quick it will be. My mom just did this and it turned out real nice. You'll have to apply a paint like Kilz or a primer first. It may take more than 1 coat to cover the ';see through.'; Good luck.
Chris is right. I forgot that part.
first you need to clean it with a strong cleaner
make sure all the cleaner is rinsed off
next paint the wall with primer
then just paint it
No can do. Paint will peel right off of it. Have to remove it, sorry.
